Ninette de Valois is a seminal figure in both British and Turkish ballet history. At The Royal Ballet, we owe our very existence to Madam’s entrepreneurial spirit and indomitable will. The same artistry, vision and leadership enabled the art form to flourish in Turkey too where her influence remains similarly potent. As we celebrate the 125th  anniversary of this remarkable woman’s birth, It is wonderful to see how the VALOIS FEST inspires so many young people through her legacy and makes for ballet and choreography’s vibrant future.

KEVIN O’HARE has been Director of The Royal Ballet since 2012. He trained at The Royal Ballet School and with Royal Danish Ballet. He began his performing career with The Royal Ballet’s sister company Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet, and stayed with that company as a Principal during its transformation into Birmingham Royal Ballet. He was made Administrative Director in 2009 before being appointed to his current role. In 2013 he was appointed to the board of Dance UK.
